Creating a home office that reflects personal history and style is a rewarding challenge. Our client wanted to pay homage to his Appalachian roots, where he spent many cherished childhood holidays fishing and hunting with relatives. He envisioned a space that feels like an upscale rustic cabin, combining his love for the outdoors with a sophisticated touch. Here’s how we transformed his office into a haven of both productivity and relaxation.

Metallic Grass-cloth Wallpaper in Gunmetal Grey

To set a sophisticated tone, we selected metallic grass-cloth wallpaper in gunmetal grey for all four walls. This rich, textured backdrop provides an elegant yet earthy ambiance, evoking the rugged beauty of the Appalachian landscape.

 Window Treatments: Privacy and Style

Given that his home office faces a busy road on the first floor, privacy was a key concern. We chose beige and teal blue plaid polyester curtains that are semi-blackout. These curtains not only offer the necessary privacy but also bring a touch of rustic charm with their classic pattern.

 Mixed Material Chandelier

To illuminate the space, we selected a mixed material chandelier with an iron frame, leather shades, and walnut finishes. This unique piece ties together the rustic and upscale elements of the room, casting a warm, inviting glow.

Navy Blue Leather Swivel Executive Chair

We kept his existing desk but upgraded his seating with a navy blue leather swivel executive chair. This chair offers both comfort and style, fitting seamlessly into the room’s aesthetic while providing the support needed for long work hours.

 Multicolor Medallion Turkish Rug

To spotlight the main work area, we placed a multicolor medallion Turkish rug in shades of brown, red, and navy. This rug adds warmth and color to the space, anchoring the design with its intricate patterns and rich hues.

 Banker Desk Lamp

For task lighting, we added a classic banker desk lamp in green with a bronze base. This timeless piece enhances the desk area with its vintage charm, perfect for late-night work sessions.

Handmade Rustic Moose Head in Bronze Finish

As a nod to his love for the outdoors, we included a handmade rustic moose head in a bronze finish. This striking decor piece adds character and a touch of wilderness to the office, serving as a focal point on the wall.

 Lounging Area: Comfort and Relaxation

In addition to the workspace, we created a lounging area where he can unwind. We selected a voluptuous tufted barrel chair with a 360-degree swivel, providing comfort and an organic touch. This area is anchored by a metallic finish, modern 3-legged design side table.

 Personalized Folk Art

To capture the nostalgia and charm of his Appalachian memories, we commissioned a family member who specializes in folk art to create a piece depicting the client and his relatives fishing. This personalized artwork really plays to the heart of the room, bringing warmth and sentimental value.

 Finishing Touches: Fabrics and Textures

To complete the design, we added throw pillows in chambray cotton and striped Turkish fabric in sage color. These fabrics introduce softness and additional texture, enhancing the cozy factor in the un-winding area of this home office.

By blending sophisticated elements with rustic charm, we created a home office that is both functional and deeply personal. This space not only meets our client's professional needs but also offers a sanctuary where he can reconnect with his fondest memories of Appalachian life.
